Media Markt Retail Engagement App

TIME Magazine Special Edition

TIME Magazine creates special issues of iconic stature to focus on the world’s most important topics and people. To celebrate Barack Obama’s legacy and 8 years in the White House, TIME turned to augmented reality and its immersive capabilities to highlight four ‘turning points’ on the Obama administration. Each occasion was ‘made real again’ through Spinar America’s use of the Wikitude’s technology and image recognition to render each video.

App developed by Wikitude Premium Partner Spinar America

Working with TIME Special Issue Editorial team on the Obama issue was indeed a privilege and pleasure. So too, is our ongoing engagement with the Wikitude team, especially given their sophisticated platform, ready availability and willingness to help in any way they can.

TIME Magazine is today’s leading weekly news source for millions of readers worldwide. As such, they are trusted and respected for the highest quality journalism and reporting. Use of augmented reality supports these initiatives perfectly by allowing readers to engage with new technology through the use of the Wikitude’s technology and Spinar America’s creative app development.

AR as a technology can make news and information more real, more current and more important. In fact, it can make the experience whether it be news, finance, culture, sports or people more understandable and relevant. This is TIME’s cachet; to provide perspective and insight.

This is no less true for TIME’s Special Issue team and their high standards for creating the very best journalistic endeavors and knowledge. Spinar America’s working relationship with this team was superior by all measures. Their goals were focused and timely and their expectations clear. We knew we needed to create and build something unique with instantaneous recognition to reveal four very special moments of the Obama presidency: the Inauguration, his spontaneous singing of ‘Amazing Grace’, the killing of Osama Bin Laden and his signature sign-off at his final Correspondences’ Dinner.

The ‘TIME Special edition‘ app holds a number of experiences that will surprise, delight and engage readers in the months and years to come. Be sure to stay tuned for issues to follow and while you’re waiting, download the TIME Special Issue app on either iOS or Android.
