Swiss Bank Augments Customer Greeting Cards

Thurgauer Kantonalbank augmented reality (AR) surprise

Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB), a traditional bank with over 140 years of presence in Switzerland, wanted to offer their 180,000 customers a unique and memorable birthday AR greeting. The solution: send out interactive cards that activate a fun AR experience.

“Over the past few years, we have been able to build a solid foundation with Wikitude, a reliable and agile partner. The use of the Wikitude SDK helps our customer, TKB, deliver an exceptional AR result.”

TKB is the leading bank in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. With over 700 employees the company is actively engaged in the areas of diversity and sustainability. To create a modern and interactive customer service the bank is using Augmara CMS, an AR Content Management System which allows users to easily add multimedia and online content to interactive print. The project: a simple greeting card, which customers receive for their birthday, turns into an augmented reality experience that leaves a lasting impression. With their own White Label App TKB strengthens the bond between the bank and the customers. To view the surprise behind the greeting card is very simple. Users must first download the TKB AR app at Google Play or the App Store to then scan the greeting card using the device’s camera. Once the target is recognized the AR content begins. The AR feature behind this use case is powered by Wikitude Image Recognition technology. It is one of the most common AR experiences in use today.
