Wikitude has shown real co-innovation spirit – not only by fitting its SDK into SAP’s mobile architecture by delivering a Cordova/PhoneGap plugin but also by teaming up with allvisual and Orianda in the SAP Co-Innovation Lab to help deliver a solution prototype for a visionary helicopter maintenance app.
Rudolf Held | Vice President, Global SAP Co-Innovation Lab Network

In early 2014, in an effort to incorporate tomorrow’s technologies with SAP business solutions, the SAP Co-Innovation Lab locations in Walldorf, Germany and Regensdorf, Switzerland teamed with its members allvisual AG, previously named Marenco Swissconsulting AG, and Wikitude to leverage the power of image-recognition technology.

As a result of this initial engagement, the companies presented a proof-of-concept demonstration of the Wikitude SDK integrated with the SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 in June 2014 at Augmented World Expo.

To apply a real-world example, allvisual AG brought forth a targeted mobile maintenance scenario from Marenco Swisshelicopter AG to be implemented with new augmented reality (AR) technology in conjunction with SAP technology, particularly SAP UI 5. SAP turned to its partner Orianda Solutions AG for assistance. Orianda is an international consultancy firm based in Switzerland that provides consulting and implementation services for SAP solutions, with a focus on the SAP Enterprise Asset Management (SAP EAM) solution and mobility, applying future-oriented technologies such as augmented reality towards predictive maintenance.

We’re working closely with the SAP Co-Innovation Lab, allvisual AG and Orianda to develop and implement an end-to-end, AR-enhanced asset maintenance scenario tailored for service mechanics, as well as pilots, to help ensure the strong requirements for helicopter maintenance are met. The results of the collaborative project – highlighting the usage of image recognition and AR technology – was demonstrated in November 2014at the SAP TechEd conference held in Berlin, Germany.
