Media Markt wanted to create the ultimate shopper’s app – something that let their customers take the traditional print catalog, and make it dynamic, engaging, and alive. Augmented reality was there to help bring Media Markt shopper experience on the next level.

Their goals? More app downloads, better brand loyalty, and create a more entertaining brand platform. Using Wikitude 2D image recognition, Media Markt customers are able to point their smartphone at the Media Markt catalog, and using the app, bring up highly detailed information about key products through augmented reality.

While Wikitude’s technology handles the 2D image recognition and object rendering, content is managed by Takondi’s own augmented reality CMS Augmara (previously known as TARTT), whose SDK also builds a bridge between the AR world and the mobile app for a highly integrated mobile shopping experience.

It brings an updated technological appeal, longer use time on the app, and more information about products in a tangible and fascinating way – and offers the opportunity to convert more sales via direct in-app purchases.
