Get Started PhoneGap

Follow the steps below to get your environment up and running to work with the Wikitude SDK together with the PhoneGap Plugin

The Wikitude Plugin enables web developers to embed an Augmented Reality view into their PhoneGap project. Developers can create a fully featured app with advanced Augmented Reality features, including image recognition, purely using HTML, CSS and Javascript.

  • PhoneGap 2.4.0 or newer

Installation of PhoneGap Plugin

  1. Register and download the Wikitude SDK (version 2.0 or newer)
  2. Set-up a regular PhoneGap project as described in the Get Started Guide for your target platform
  3. Clone the repository of the Wikitude Plugin from GitHub for your target platform
  4. Follow the detailed steps described in the ReadMe files on GitHub (Android, iOS) for setting up your development environment (XCode, Eclipse) provided in the repository on GitHub

For removing the watermark in the camera you need to license the Wikitude SDK for your project. Note the Wikitude Plugin itself is free, but you need a valid license for the Wikitude SDK. Have a look at the available licenses in the pricing overview. Licenses are available in the Wikitude online store.
