About Wikitude

Wikitude is an early pioneer and one of the leading innovators in mobile augmented reality with in-house development of location-based services and AR experiences for smart-phones.

Wikitude is a leading innovator in mobile Augmented Reality. Our flagship product is the Wikitude World Browser, which is the first available mobile Augmented Reality browser worldwide. Point of interests can be searched by current position and viewed on a map, list, and on an Augmented Reality (AR) camera view. Wikitude is available for Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian and Bada. Wikitude is leading the international AR standardization as part of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and is a W3C member.

Wikitude was founded in May 2009 as Mobilizy GmbH and was renamed Wikitude GmbH in May 2011.

Andy Gstoll Mobile, Travel and Technology have been the focus of Andy’s career in both MNC as well as start-up environments for more than 10 years. Born and raised in Germany, Andy has lived in the USA for 7 years and in Asia Pacific more than 5 years while based in Singapore. After working for various companies including KPMG Consulting and Sony DADC he founded Mobilizy GmbH in May 2009, a software startup specializing in Augmented Reality software for smartphones. In May 2011, Mobilizy GmbH has been renamed to Wikitude GmbH. When on the road, he uses Wikitude to search for Mexican or Thai restaurants nearby.

Erik has held senior operational and strategic roles since 1999 in a number of telecoms and internet companies, both startups & publicly listed companies. Erik held senior positions with Digital Mobility, and Dynamical Systems Research – an Ericsson design centre, pioneer of the world’s first WAP SDK, and one of the world’s first commercial Web-to-phone, corporate SMS messaging services, Airmail(tm), launched in 1995. Subsequently, Erik was European Managing Director of eMeta Corporation, a provider of access control and digital licensing software for online publishers and financial services. Erik was also responsible for VeriSign’s Mobile Enterprise Services (VMES), a global, mobile messaging aggregation service, in addition to Enterprise Paging, a multi-protocol mediation service for wireless carriers, including AT&T and Sprint in North America. Erik held P&L responsibility for a 20 million USD book of business, and drove average annualized top-line revenue growth of 50%. Erik holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
Phil Born in Salzburg, Philipp studied Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Applied Science in Salzburg and received his M.S. in Computer System Engineering from University of Halmstad, Sweden. Prior to working for Wikitude, Philipp worked at VeriSign Inc. and T-Mobile Austria as Product and Innovation Manager. Philipp is also the co-founder of the Austrian branch of MobileMonday, an innovative networking event series where hot topics in the mobile industry are shared in a relaxed atmosphere. Since the first event in 2009, MobileMonday membership has grown considerably and is well established in the Viennese Event Calendar.

Andreas Hauser Andi Andreas studied applied computer science in Salzburg, Austria. After 4 instructive years as a software-development freelancer for Sony DADC he joined Wikitude in the very first days. He is now Product Manager of Wikitude but also responsible for innovations at Wikitude. He loves snowboarding and being challenged as a handball goal-keeper.

nic After studying applied computer science at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg Nicolas was employed as a researcher and project manager at Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft for five years where he focused on mobile applications and location based services. Amongst others he lead the development of the mobile travel guide “tripwolf” as well as the augmented reality mountain panorama viewer “Peak.ar” for iPhone.
He joined Wikitude in October 2010 and leads the development of the iPhone related products.
In his spare time Nicolas is most often encountered in the mountains either ski touring in winter or rock climbing on overhanging walls.

wolfgang Wolfgang studied Mobile Computing at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. With a strong interest in the Symbian platform he joined Wikitude to help develop the Wikitude Client for Nokia smartphones. Wolfgang is interested in everything mobile and loves to mountainbike and snowboard in the Austrian alps.

chris In 2005 Chris started at Sony DADC as a freelancer. Later he joined the parking access team at the renowned company Skidata AG. There he worked on the distributed installation (deployment) and the manual paystation of the parking system. After 4 years at Skidata he was looking for a new challenge and joined Wikitude.
He has a wide range of interests and soft skills including media, sound engineering, design & animation, project management and user experience design. In his spare time he plays concerts with his band and loves to do any kind of sports.

veronica Born in London Veronica moved to Austria, after finishing her German Language and Literature degree at King’s College London, in 2005. In Vienna she held various project management and executive assistant positions at The Economist and Western Union. In late 2010, Veronica moved to Salzburg and joined Wikitude as an executive assistant in March 2011. During the Winter she can be found skiing the slopes around Salzburg and in Summer, Veronica focuses on improving her half marathon time. When her neighbours are out, Veronica enjoys playing the violin and when her budget allows, she enjoys travelling.

reinhard A native Roman, Simone moved to Salzburg after having spent several months working in Leeds (UK). Simone graduated in Computer Science from the Tor Vergata University of Rome and his studies initially focused on the area of Semantic and Artificial intelligence achieving interesting results in his thesis (www.avic.it). As Software Engineer J2EE at Wikitude GmBH, Simone is in charge of development and maintenance for the server behind the Wikitude World Browser. This position exposes him to daily challenges which keep him on his toes and keeps his enthusiasm up! During his spare time, Simone enjoys adventure books, skiing and dancing to the rhythm of Salsa y Bachata.

gabriele Born in Italy, Gabriele studied software engineering at the University of Genoa. After completing his degree in 2001 he started working in a small software house where he developed software for the FFSS (Italian railways). He moved to Austria with his family in 2004, and in 2005 he began working at SBS – Salzburg Banken Software, where he wrote applications for ATMs and other banking devices. His adventure at Wikitude started in September 2011. In his free time and whenever his children let him, Gabriele likes cooking, playing the guitar, bass or cello, and walking around Salzburg taking photos.
