Wikitude SDK

How many apps can I develop per license?

The license fee applies to each app per operating system. For example, if you plan to publish your ABC app on both iOS and Android you will require a license for each platform.

What operating systes does the Wikitude SDK support?

The Wikitude SDK supports iOS and Android. Additionally, we also provide extensions to mobile app development platforms including Appcelerator Titanium, PhoneGap and Xamarin.

What does the SDK LITE provide?

The SDK Lite is made for “geo”, “location based” or even sometimes referred to as “GPS” based augmented reality. This is for use cases where you wish to show augmentations or “markers” on places in an outdoor or even indoor environment. Examples are locations of restaurants, sales outlets, points of interest, even people etc. Please also refer to this page stating all features for both products in detail.

What does the SDK PRO provide?

The SDK Pro includes all SDK Lite features (see above) plus vision based augmented reality and tracking as well as support for 3D models. The Pro version is suitable for a very wide range of use cases including, but not limited to, augmentations on two dimensional surfaces.

Why does Wikitude provide special SDKs for smart glasses?

Contrary to smartphones and tablets, each and every smartglass or eyewear introduced to the market today has its own very unique characteristics. There are monocular and binocular devices, true see through glasses as well as head mounted displays situated slightly above or below the eye. These unique approaches require special treatment, therefore customized versions of our SDK is the only way to address this properly.

How do I get the license key?

Once you have completed the order process and the payment has been received on our end, we will generate the license key for you. In order for us to complete this action, you’ll need to send us the Android package name and/or the iOS bundle id.

Where do I put the license key?

You’ll find the details in the Android set-up guide under ‘AR View in Activity’ and the iOS set-up guide under ‘Integrate the SDK into your application’

What does Wikitude offer academic institutes?

The EDU license is available under certain conditions and can be ordered via our store.  The Wikitude SDK for educational purposes is available to all accredited academic institutions including universities, colleges, vocational/trade schools as well as other education organizations and to individual students and teaching staff.

How do I get started?

The first step is to set up your FREE account. You’ll then have access to all the tools, documentation, templates etc. You may then download the free trial version of the Wikitude SDK.

Which SDK license can I use when I work with Studio?

If you work with Wikitude Studio you can make use of our vision based augmented reality functionality. As this functionality is only available with the SDK PRO license, you’d need to purchase an SDK PRO license.

Can I upgrade my SDK at a later time?

Yes upgrading your license is no problem. The process is very easy – simply send an email to sales[at]wikitude.com with the details, and we’ll create a custom invoice and generate a new license key. This new license key will need to be included in the app (resulting in a necessary app update).

I’m using the PhoneGap Plugin – do I need one license key or do I need to purchase a license key for each platform?

You’ll need a license key for each platform you’re using the PhoneGap Plugin with. So if you intend to publish your app on Android and iOS you’ll need 2 licenses.

How can I open the license key file?

Just open the .signed file with a standard text editor and copy out the key.

EU VAT Regulation

The regulation for purchases for electronic goods within the European Union changed with 1.1.2015. Purchases are now subject to the VAT tax rate of the country where the order is originating from. To ensure this the European Union requires two pieces of information to proof that your purchase is actually coming from this country.
Please do one of the following:
  • Enter a correct VAT ID and purchase again
  • Make sure your billing address matches your location and purchase again
  • Send an email to info@wikitude.com for clarification

Wikitude Studio

How does Wikitude promote my Wikitude Studio project published in the Wikitude App?

There are essentially 2 ways how Wikitude will support you. 1. Search box: when users of the Wikitude App do a “power search”, your project will get listed if the search relates to the search term entered by the user. When you set up your AR project, you can improve the search relevancy by providing a variety of relevant key words. 2. Google Indexing: all Wikitude Studio projects published in the Wikitude App are automatically indexed by Google. This means that when someone searches for something that relates to your AR project on Google, your project link will appear in the list of results (due to Google’s constant change in its search algorithm we cannot guarantee a listing on the first page of the results).
