Your smartphone must run an operating system supported by Wikitude
- Android
- BlackBerry OS 7 devices
- iOS
- Symbian
- Windows Phone 7
and needs a back-facing camera, GPS, a compass, a magnetometer and an accelerometer. The list of officially supported phones can be found here.
Wikitude is currently available for the Bold 9900, Bold 9930, Torch 9860, Torch 9850 and Torch 9810
As OS6 devices do not have a digital magnetometer, which Augmented Reality (AR) applications like Wikitude need to work properly, we cannot support the full functionality on OS6 devices. We are currently working on a non-AR version for OS6 devices which will be available soon, so keep checking back to our website for the latest news.
Currently there are technical limitations on the Playbook and this is why Wikitude is not supported on it just yet. If something changes on this front, we will of course consider supporting Wikitude for Playbook.
You can download Wikitude for all BlackBerry supported devices in the App World under the following link http://bit.ly/ovB4Si
Wikitude and Augmented Reality make use of the newest technology available in mass-market handsets. Thus, Augmented Reality applications like Wikitude are only available on phones coming with those necessary components (camera, GPS, compass and accelerometer). If your handset does not come with those components, we cannot make Wikitude available on your phone. The list of supported handsets can be found here.
For your Android, BlackBerry or iPhone, you can download Wikitude from the respective markets (Android Market, BlackBerry AppWorld and AppStore). For Symbian devices, you can usually download it from Ovi Store. However, as Ovi Store is currently facing some technical difficulties, we are also offering Wikitude for Symbian on our webpage.
Wikitude allows users to call phone numbers or send messages from within the application.
Please try to
- restart Wikitude. If this doesn’t help,
- restart your phone and try Wikitude again. If this doesn’t help,
- contact us on info@wikitude.com and let us know when and how Wikitude crashes on your phone. Please don’t forget to include your phone model and your exact location.
We will get back to you as soon as possible with a solution.
Unfortunately, the iPhone 3G does not have a compass, which prevents this phone from being able to run Augmented Reality applications like Wikitude. However, as we got so many requests from 3G users, we decided to publish a map-based version of Wikitude. Still, AR features requiring a compass, are not possible.
Yes, it is. Please contact us at info@wikitude.com so we can figure out a way to cooperate.
You can find detailled information about this in our developer documentation on Wikitude Worlds.
There might be multiple reasons for Wikitude to not show your world:
- In general, it can take a few hours for Wikitude clients to recognize newly created Worlds. Please check Wikitude regularly to see if your World is showing.
- A common error is that longitude and latitude are mixed up in the tag. The format needs to be longitude, latitude (and an optional altitude on meters) – please double-check if you are unsure.
- Ensure that your World is visible within the test system – the test system should show your world immediately after the upload. If the world is not visible in the test system, your World is not delivering valid data. If you’ve uploaded a KML or ARML file, please check the error messages after the upload on www.wikitude.me – they will let you know what went wrong. If you’ve provided a web-service, please make sure that you’re delivering a valid ARML.
- Does your world deliver results in your area (you can check in the test system)? Wikitude will only show your World if it has results in your area. You can use the test system to fake your location and try Wikitude virtually in those regions where your World delivers results.
Once you uploaded or configured your World in the DevZone you can set the status of your World to “testing”. This means that your World is not visible yet to the public in the Wikitude.
Enable the Developer mode in your Wikitude app and you can test your World. Each World has a 8-digit alphanumeric developer key associated to it. You can find it in the DevZone, when editing your World. Open settings in your Wikitude app and your World will be added to the All Worlds section.
Note: Developer mode is only available on iOS and Android.
- iOS: Go to the phone Settings and scroll down to see the Wikitude logo. Open that and search for Content Developer Settings at the bottom of the screen.
- Android: Open Wikitude and press the menu button. Select Settings and open the field named Developer-Key
