Christopher Backeberg from TheWhereToBusiness wrote a very nice article about Wikitude Drive. He interviewed Andy and Philipp and gives a very good overview of what’s happening with Wikitude Drive in the near future. It’s about Wikitude Drive – Not yet live, already a legend.
Wikitude Drive ready to bring AR navigation to the road
Wikitude Drive, considered the first mobile augmented reality (AR) navigation system with global maps, is set for its worldwide launch. The key men behind its development tell Christopher Backeberg how the system was developed and what makes it so different…
Wikitude Drive and the Wikitude World Browser on which it is based are products from Mobilizy, based in Salzburg, Austria. The use of AR in Wikitude Drive takes mobile navigation technology to a new level by actively blending driving directions into the live camera images on a smartphone.
Philipp Breuss-Schneeweis, founder of Mobilizy, sums it up: “The technology requires no sense of direction – the driver just needs to follow a line.” …
You said it will launch in June, then you said August. It’s September already, where is it? :(
i can’t find it on android market, how come?
I’m also curious when this will actually be released. I’ve been patiently waiting for months now…
Hi Mangiato,
We will release Wikitude Drive within the next weeks. Please stay tuned.
Greetings
Nicola
Nicola each car could carry a GPS positioning geolocated. Then the car’s computer would tell us a few miles away we have the car that comes in front and if possible, or not make the overtaking maneuver. Also we next turn would indicate whether we approach the dangerous or not. This could save many lives a year in the world, avoiding collisions by collision of cars of a unit. What do you think of this nicola? Also the car webcam could be integrated into the windshield and part of the vehicle. I would like to give more ideas for a better future for all. Please write me and talk by msn or mail. Greetings and congratulations on your projects. Javi Moya. Spain
