What about the N900 from Nokia ?
(please say it’s for soon ;-) )
Hi Dominik,
Could you please give us more details on the problem. Are you unable to find Wikitude in the Market or do you get an error in the application. Please also provide firmware information of your device. We ourself test with Nexus One Devices, so there should not be any problems.
Thx and greetings,
Nicola
Hi Peter,
Porting Wikitude to other platforms like rim (blackberry) is on our roadmap. We’ll keep you updated on our webpage.
Greetings
Nicola
Hi Simohra,
Unfortunately the N900 does not have a built in compass, so AR applications like Wikitude are not possible to run on this device.
Sorry,
Nicola
Hi Nicola,
In my last post I meant Nokia E71 device, not N71.
Could you please let me know if there is some future support for E71?
Thanks.
Hi Roberto,
I put N71 by mistake. So the E71 does not have a compass and therefor Wikitude is not supported on the E71.
Sorry and greetings,
Nicola
Hi folks,
I know it is kind of bothering but since it is exactly mid-april I wanted to ask about the progress for Samsung I8910. Can’t wait to get a working version of your amazing software on my mobile! Thanks for your work!
Greets, Thomas
the i8910HD will be supported from mid april right. So the 15.4 or later?
Hope you guys manage to do it because samsung made a big nonsense in the i8910Hd
Hi,
to all Samsung i8910 owners, we are hearing you. Unfortunately we are having problems with Qt on the Samsung i8910. The technical reason being the security mechanism of Symbian. We are at the moment not able to run Wikitude on this device, because of the missing security capabilities of the Qt libraries for non Nokia phones. We are waiting on Samsung to release proper libraries that are signed with all security capabilities enabled and work on the i8910. In the meanwhile we are working hard on finding a way to provide you with the libraries ourselves. But at the moment the only thing is to kindly ask you to be patient. We have not forgotten i8910 owners and are working hard on making Wikitude available on this device.
Cheers,
Wolfgang
Thanks a lot Wolfgang !!! for this good news !
From a French :=)
Have a nice day
Well, THAT SUX!! cause u know, Wolfgang, talking/asking Samsung is like talking to a brick wall! Nimbuzz had exact same problem with Samsung’s ‘locked-out’ VOIP/mic on i8910 for months, with no solution at the end.
Here hoping, u guys will have better luck
thanks wolfgang,
i hope you will solve the troubles on your own, ‘cos if you will wait samsung, then we will never see this wonderful application on our device.
they don’t really care of supporting us users… like it is happening with voip features of i8910
Will the Nokia 5800 ever get support?
Hi
I have a NexusOne. When it will be supported?
Hi
Unfortunately the 5800 does not have a built in compass. As AR apps like Wikitude need a compass to work, we are not able to support the 5800.
Sorry,
Nicola
Hi Olaf,
We already support the Nexus One. If you have any problems finding Wikitude in the market, let me know.
Greetings
Nicola
is there a possibility to download the wikitude apk file for android
because i still cant install it from the market
HTC Legend has the necessary hardware: should I be able to see Wikitude in Market for this device?
Hi Julian,
The issue why Wikitude is not visible in the Market for the HTC Legend is on HTC and/or Google side (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=683d89c4f4fd4593&hl=en). We will keep you update once we have any news regarding this topic.
Sorry
Nicola
Hi Nicola, I do believe Nokia E71 has a compass and should support Wikitude. There is compass function which is no different from any newer devices like N97, which is based on motion and calculates the direction. I reviewed at Nokia forum ..http://bit.ly/be6YvL
For your convenience I am copying my response here…
—————–
That’s right, the compass is based on the GPS data. It seems this is included with E71 , same application which is in newer devices lkike the N97. Not sure why some sites like Wikitude saying E71 doesn’t have a compass. It’s not a real compass. What it does is whil you move (you have to to calibrate the compass at the beginning) and it takes the data from GPS satellites (maybe also cell towers) and adjusts the directions of compass. If you want to read more about this concept application you can read it hear (don’t recommend installing it because this experimental app).. http://bit.ly/buCAyV. Perhaps somebody who knows this stuff better can clarify.. Good luck and thank you.
Nicola, as a proof I have attached a screenshot of Nokia E71 compass. This is a native GPS application which comes with all E71 models, it’s not the experimental app I mentioned above. Here is the pic and shows compass in action: http://i39.tinypic.com/11maseu.jpg
OK, I responded to my own question. Comparison between both: http://www.e72user.com/nokia-e71-vs-nokia-e72/... According to the table, Nokia E71 has GPS based compass only. Nokia E72 has an electronic compass which enables it to get data faster and more and precise. Although an E71 will be able to detect directions when moving forward to them it won’t be possible to just stand on a spot and turn around while moving the camera around to get info displayed. Still, shouldn’t it should be possible to have Wikitude take the GPS data to calculate (approx) direction and display information about objects in Wikitude while moving forward towards them?
Hi polocanada,
Thank you for your interest. As you wrote the E71 does not have a digital compass (= Magnetometer) which is a sensor that measures the magnetic field of the earth and therefore can calculate the degrees to north pretty accurately. While it is possible to use the GPS as a compass this is not very accurate and fails when you are not moving. Due to these limitations using the GPS as a compass will not work with Wikitude.
Greetings,
Wolfgang
I’d like to say a big thank you for your attempts at doing this with the i8910. It’s a really, really great phone, and your application will be awesome to use when traveling. It’s a shame Samsung hasn’t opened or created the interface for programmers like yourself to do something incredible with it, I just don’t understand why the interfaces to the phone are so convoluted, but here’s hoping it’ll improve so apps like yours benefit.
concerning the nokia E71, I do not understand something…
the advantage of wikitude compared to the competitor is that precisely there is NO NEED for compass.
looked at the iphone 3G walk well. (in MAP, of course.)
why not the nokia E71?
Hi fred,
for the iPhone you are absolutely right. For the Symbian platform we have not decided on releasing a maps only version that does not require a digital compass. For now, unfortunately you would need a Nokia device with a built in digital compass.
Cheers,
Wolfgang
Any news about Samsung I8910 HD support?
Cheers for the update for the i8910, I’ve been patiently tracking the progress of this app, its by far got to be the most inspiring and original app I’ve seen for a long time, I can’t wait to have it on my i8910! Keep up the good work :)
Hallo!
Funktioniert die Sache auch mal WEB OS (Palm) Telefonen??
Hi Thomas,
Nicola
Any Information about SonyEricsson mobiles with Symbian platform (e.g Vivaz…)
hallo…
gibt´s was neues zum samsung i8910 hd?
mfg,
carsten
Wolfgang
hello. im reading that N900 does not have a campus so its not supported. i can safely say that iphone 3G does not have a campus either so why is it that iphone 3g (not 3gs) is supported.
Hallo Wikitude-Team,
Nicola
any chance for a windws mobile support?
Hi Chris,
Supporting other platforms like the Windows Mobile is on our internal roadmap. Please stay tuned for updates.
Thx and greetings
Nicola
how about the nokia x6?
thanks
Hello al,
unfortunately the X6 does not have the digital compass Wikitude requires. Thus we are not able to support it.
Add me as another i8910 owner who’s very keen for your app, any news?
Thomas…
[...] Check out if you can find your phone on the supported devices list. [...]
What about Windows Phone 7?
Hallo Thomas,
Nicola
